Are you PINC?
PINC is an acronym for "Person of Importance for Nature Conservation?
Created to highlight the amazing people doing great things for wildlife.
Ecological Network
London has a network of some 1500 Sites of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINCs), approximately 3000ha in total. They include the best wildlife rich areas: ancient woodland, meadows, wetlands and scrub.
The SINC and the PINC network are not too disimilar, they are lonely, under-funded and need expertise to keep them healthy.
Being PINC
You might be PINC in many different ways:
- Love your local park and are part of the friends group.
- Enjoy seeing the foxes that frequent your streets and cherish the blossom in spring.
- Support the community garden down the end of the road
- Donate tomato plants from your early season bounty.
The point I am trying to make is given humans are part of nature - nature recovery is also about us recovering our connection with the other species we share the earth with.
